In a nutshell: Spoiler Lock blocks the apps you choose so nothing ruins a premiere for you. There are no accounts, no ads, no analytics, no tracking and no servers of our own. Your shields and your progress live only on your device, and the app cannot even see which apps you have installed or which ones you block: iOS only gives it opaque identifiers.
Spoiler Lock is an iPhone app developed and published by Jorge Maldonado Borbón, operating under the IndieLob brand (hereinafter “the developer”, “we” or “us”).
As explained below, the developer does not receive, host or have any way to view anything you save in the app. Even so, you can write to us with any privacy question.
This policy describes how data is handled by the Spoiler Lock app for iOS (iOS 18 or later) and its three Screen Time extensions — the shield screen, the shield buttons and the schedule monitor — across all of its features, including the optional Spoiler Lock Pro purchase. It also covers this website’s support form (section 15).
It does not cover the third-party services you may use alongside the app — mainly Apple (Screen Time, iCloud, App Store, Photos) — or the apps and websites you decide to block, which are governed by their own privacy policies.
To leave no room for doubt, here is the list of things the app does not do:
To block apps, Spoiler Lock uses Apple’s Screen Time frameworks (FamilyControls with individual authorization, ManagedSettings and DeviceActivity). These are the same tools the system uses, and they are designed to protect your privacy:
Spoiler Lock stores its information in the private, sandboxed space that iOS reserves for it on your device and in an App Group container shared only with its own extensions. No other app and not the developer can access them.
| Data | What it contains | Does it leave the device? |
|---|---|---|
| Shields | Name, category, icon, release date, protection start and end, repeating schedule, mode, status and the opaque identifiers of the chosen apps and websites. | Only to your device backup |
| Poster image | The image you pick for a shield, downsized. | Only to your device backup |
| Progress | XP, level, visit days and streaks, spoilers avoided, achievements earned and an activity log (shields created and completed, unlocks, penalties and lost achievements). | Only to your device backup |
| Preferences | Color theme, appearance, animations and haptics, enabled notifications and the mode recommended by the onboarding quiz. | Only to your device backup |
| Copy for the extensions | A reduced copy of each shield (name, category, mode, schedule, opaque identifiers of the chosen apps and temporary unlocks) so the extensions can show the shield screen and apply schedules without opening the app. | No |
| Active blocks and schedules | The restrictions and scheduled activities the app hands to Screen Time. | Managed by iOS on the device |
| Pro status | Not stored: the app checks it with the App Store each time it needs it. | No |
If you back up your device to iCloud or to your computer, the app’s data is included in that backup, which is managed by Apple (section 8).
You can review and revoke permissions at any time in iOS Settings.
The app does not use location, the camera, the microphone, contacts or calendars.
These services are governed by Apple’s Privacy Policy.
Spoiler Lock Pro (yearly subscription, monthly subscription or one-time lifetime purchase) is handled entirely by Apple, through the App Store and your Apple Account.
Spoiler Lock is not directed at children and does not collect personal data from anyone, whatever their age. There are no public profiles, no in-app messaging, no content from other users and no targeted advertising.
Laws such as the European GDPR, California’s CCPA/CPRA and Mexico’s LFPDPPP grant rights of access, rectification, erasure, objection and portability over the personal data a company holds about you.
In Spoiler Lock’s case, those rights are met in the most direct way possible: we hold no data about you to hand over, correct or delete. There is no user database. Everything is on your device, under your control: you can erase it whenever you like from the app’s settings and revoke Screen Time access from iOS Settings.
If you have any privacy-related question, write to us at support@indielob.com and we will reply within a reasonable time.
Consistent with all of the above, Spoiler Lock’s App Store listing is declared as “Data Not Collected”: the app does not send data to the developer or to third parties for their use, and it does not track you within the meaning of Apple’s App Tracking Transparency (which is why you will never see the tracking permission prompt).
If you write to us through the support form on spoilerlock.indielob.com, after ticking its consent box, we receive your name, email address, topic and message by email, together with technical details of the submission (the language and page you write from, the date, your IP address and browser type), for the sole purpose of replying to you and preventing abuse. They are not stored in any database or used for advertising; the message is kept in the support mailbox only for as long as needed to help you. To prevent bulk submissions, the server keeps a hashed fingerprint of your IP address for one hour, after which it is discarded automatically. This website uses no cookies or analytics; the language selector only stores your choice in your own browser. You can also write to us directly at support@indielob.com.
If a new feature ever changes how data is handled, we will update this policy and its effective date. If the change is substantial, you will be notified within the app itself or in the App Store release notes.
