In a nutshell: Spoiler Lock temporarily blocks the apps and websites you choose, so nothing ruins a movie, a show or a race for you. By installing and using it, you accept these terms. The app reduces the risk of seeing a spoiler, but it cannot guarantee you will never see one, and you decide what to block: don’t block apps you may need.
These Terms and Conditions of Use (the “Terms”) are a legal agreement between you (the “user”) and Jorge Maldonado Borbón, operating under the IndieLob brand (the “developer”), governing your use of the Spoiler Lock mobile app and its Screen Time extensions (the “app”).
By downloading, installing, opening or using Spoiler Lock, you accept these Terms in their entirety. If you do not agree with any part of them, do not use the app and uninstall it.
If you use the app as a minor, you must do so with the consent and under the supervision of your parent or legal guardian, who assumes acceptance of these Terms.
Spoiler Lock is an independent product. It is not affiliated with, sponsored by or endorsed by Apple Inc., or by any studio, TV network, streaming service, league, team, promoter, video game publisher or competition, including any that may be mentioned in the app or that you name when creating a shield.
Spoiler Lock is an iPhone app that temporarily blocks the apps and websites you choose so you can avoid spoilers for movies, TV shows, sports, wrestling, Formula 1, anime, video games or any event you define. To do so, it uses Apple’s Screen Time frameworks (FamilyControls with individual authorization, ManagedSettings and DeviceActivity). Its features include, among others:
Spoiler Lock uses Screen Time’s individual authorization: it is designed for you to protect yourself on your own device and is not a parental control tool.
The app requires iOS 18 or later, is available in 10 languages and needs you to grant Screen Time access. Some features depend on the iOS version, the device model or granting additional permissions (notifications).
The developer grants you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable and revocable license to install and use Spoiler Lock on the Apple devices you own or control, in accordance with Apple’s App Store Usage Rules, for your own personal purposes.
The app is licensed to you, not sold. Apple’s Standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement (EULA) applies together with these Terms. In the event of a conflict between the two, these Terms shall prevail to the extent that they are compatible with Apple’s rules.
Spoiler Lock is free to download and has a free version with no time limit. Spoiler Lock Pro is an optional in-app purchase that expands what you can create. The app shows no ads, in either the free version or Pro: an ad could show you a trailer or a result — in other words, a spoiler.
| Always free | With Spoiler Lock Pro |
|---|---|
| 1 ongoing shield at a time; Gentle and Strict modes; one-time shields; temporary unlocks by time and by usage; extending and editing shields; all gamification (XP, levels, streaks, achievements and themes). | Unlimited ongoing shields; weekly and monthly repeating schedules; Hardcore mode. |
Spoiler Lock Pro comes in three options. Reference prices are in US dollars; the final price in your currency, including taxes, is the one shown by the App Store in your country and may vary:
All three options can be shared through Apple’s Family Sharing and are tied to the Apple Account used to purchase them.
Free-version limits only apply when you create a new shield. If your subscription ends, existing shields keep working until they end, including repeating shields and Hardcore shields: the app never lifts protection partway through a series for that reason.
In future versions the developer may adjust which features belong to the free version or to Pro, always without taking Pro features away from anyone who bought the lifetime option, or during a subscription period already paid for.
The yearly and monthly subscriptions belong to the “Spoiler Lock Pro” subscription group and are governed by these conditions, which are also shown next to the purchase button:
Important. Spoiler Lock reduces your exposure to spoilers, but it cannot guarantee that you will never see one. Blocking is applied by iOS through Screen Time, a system the developer does not control.
You may still come across a spoiler, among other cases:
For privacy reasons, iOS does not let apps read the list of installed apps: you choose what to block in Apple’s picker and the app only receives opaque identifiers. The developer therefore cannot know or check whether you selected all the right apps. Schedules depend on the device’s date and time; if you change them, shields may start or end at a different moment.
Don’t block apps you may need. You are responsible for what you choose to block. Avoid including apps or websites you may need for emergencies, health, work, school, navigation, transportation, payments, banking, authentication or communicating with other people. Hardcore mode is deliberately hard to undo: choose it only if you are sure.
Calls and emergency services on iPhone depend on iOS, not on Spoiler Lock. Even so, don’t use the app in a way that could keep you from asking for help or meeting an important obligation.
Spoiler Lock relies on Apple services (Screen Time, the app picker, the photo picker, notifications and App Store purchases). Their availability, operation and terms depend on Apple and are beyond the developer’s control.
The app does not provide, stream or host any content: it does not play movies, shows, sporting events or video games, and it does not show news or results. The apps and websites you block belong to third parties and your use of them is governed by their own terms.
By using Spoiler Lock, you agree not to:
The app, its code, its design and interface, its text, icons, its mascot, the Spoiler Lock name, the IndieLob brand and their logos are the property of Jorge Maldonado Borbón and are protected by intellectual and industrial property laws.
The names of movies, TV shows, leagues, teams, competitions (such as Formula 1), wrestling promotions, video games and other events belong to their respective owners and are used only descriptively, to identify the type of event. Apple, iPhone, iCloud, App Store and Screen Time are trademarks of Apple Inc.
These Terms do not transfer to you any ownership rights in the app beyond the license to use described in section 4.
The handling of information is described in the Privacy Policy, which forms an integral part of these Terms. In short: Spoiler Lock collects no data. There are no accounts, no advertising, no analytics, no tracking and no developer servers; everything is stored on your device, and the app cannot even see which apps you have installed or which ones you block.
The app is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the developer disclaims all express or implied warranties, including those of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy and non-infringement.
The developer does not warrant that the app will operate uninterrupted or error-free, that it will be compatible with all devices and configurations, that iOS will apply or lift blocks exactly at the scheduled time, that notifications will always arrive on time, or that you will avoid every spoiler.
Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties, so some of these exclusions may not apply to you. Nothing in these Terms limits the rights that mandatory consumer protection law grants you.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the developer shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, punitive or consequential damages, or for any loss of profits, revenue, data or opportunities, arising from the use of or inability to use Spoiler Lock.
In particular, and without limiting the foregoing, the developer is not liable for: spoilers you end up seeing by any means; blocks that iOS did not apply, applied late or lifted early; apps or websites that remained blocked when you needed them, including shields in Hardcore mode; alerts that did not arrive; or XP, levels, achievements or themes lost through penalties or by erasing your data.
The developer’s total aggregate liability for any claim related to the app is limited to the amount you actually paid for Spoiler Lock Pro in the twelve months preceding the event giving rise to the claim or, if you made no purchase, to zero.
These limitations do not exclude liability that cannot be excluded by law, such as for willful misconduct or personal injury caused by gross negligence.
These Terms are entered into between you and the developer, not with Apple Inc. Accordingly:
You may terminate these Terms at any time by uninstalling the app. Uninstalling it does not cancel a subscription: cancel it as described in section 6. The developer may suspend or revoke the license if you materially breach these Terms, in particular section 13.
Upon termination of the license, you must stop using the app and remove it from your devices. The sections on intellectual property, disclaimer of warranties, limitation of liability and governing law shall survive termination.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the United Mexican States and, where applicable, those of the State of Durango, excluding their conflict-of-laws rules. For any dispute, the parties expressly submit to the competent courts of the city of Durango, Durango, Mexico, without prejudice to the non-waivable rights that consumer protection law grants you in your place of habitual residence, including the option of bringing proceedings before the courts where you live.
If any provision of these Terms is held to be void or unenforceable, the remainder shall continue in full force and effect.
The developer may update these Terms to reflect changes to the app or to applicable law. The version in force will always be the one published on this page, together with its effective date. If the change is substantial, you will be notified within the app itself or in the App Store release notes. Continuing to use Spoiler Lock after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms; if you do not accept them, uninstall the app and cancel your subscription, if you have one.
The Spanish version of these Terms and Conditions of Use is the only official and legally binding version. The versions available in other languages — English, French, Italian, Brazilian Portuguese, European Portuguese, German, Turkish, Simplified Chinese and Dutch — are published solely for informational purposes and as a courtesy, to make them easier to understand, and have no legal force in themselves.
In the event of any discrepancy, contradiction, ambiguity, translation error or omission, or conflict of interpretation between the Spanish version and any of its translations, the Spanish version shall always prevail in its entirety and shall govern for all legal purposes.
